How Do You Make A Bike Faster
How Do You Make A Bike Faster
relatively new to mechanics in the street bike world
Just wondering what people do to make their bikes faster
Whats will give them an edge without saccrificing reliability too badly?
Websites would be very helpful

Depending on what bike you have, you can jet it, you can CHIP It and tune the Fuel curves and all that fun stuff, Exhaust,

do a -2 +10 on the sprockets.
-2 = 2 teeth less than the stock front sprocket
+10 = 10 tooth larger than the stock rear sprocket.
This will give you a little low end umph and be able to get to 150 in a fraction of the time.

gear it right, meaning change the rear sprocket up a few teeth, or go down 1 in the front. this will make the bike accelerate/feel faster and its relatively cheap

One of the consequences of such notions as "entitlements" is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”

no matter WHAT you do to it you'll get used to it and want it to be faster. Mods like exhaust, chips, etc will give a few more HP but for the most part they change around the power curve a bit, and make it sound nicer, just as it does to a car Gearing is prob the only thing that will really make you go "wow! that made heck of a difference"
The bike world is NO diff than the car world, same principals apply. Ive been in GT Mustangs with nothing but a ratio change in the rear end and holy hell it pulled like it was supercharged.
Where do you NORMALLY ride? Twisties in the boonies, traffic, a mix?

Well for your YZF 600 you can get a factory pro ignition advance (about $70). Get "stage 3" jet kit ($100), drop in K&N filter ($70), and a FULL Arrow or Vance and Hine exhaust, etc. ($400-700). From my experience you should have around 90-95whp with those mods. You would need some experience if you wanted to install the jet kit yourself. Those Kehin carbs are bastards on that engine, I have a 98' YZF engine and it will be getting my sweet FZR Mikuni carbs installed on it.
