How Do You Make A Bike Faster
not always tru, there are 600's that are quick just depends on rider and work done to the bike...i have a 02 R6 has a bit of work, iv ran 1000's with crapy riders and tore them up in a drag race...as some of u already said it alot to do with the rider.. bottom end on 600's can be very good but top end its no contest, a 1000 will kill a 600... im considering giving my bike to my girl and gettin a 1000 here soon.......i have intake/full system/stage3 jets/1- 3+ gearing/drag strap/stretch blocks.....

Well for your YZF 600 you can get a factory pro ignition advance (about $70). Get "stage 3" jet kit ($100), drop in K&N filter ($70), and a FULL Arrow or Vance and Hine exhaust, etc. ($400-700). From my experience you should have around 90-95whp with those mods. You would need some experience if you wanted to install the jet kit yourself. Those Kehin carbs are bastards on that engine, I have a 98' YZF engine and it will be getting my sweet FZR Mikuni carbs installed on it.

with the full D&D, im sure its louder than it is fast....
if i had to guess on an HP # for that bike...id say low 100's.....

like someone already said, learn to ride it, dont think you are fast if you can do 140 down the straights but park it in the curves.
second thing I would do, is set the suspension for you, you want the bike to handle like its on rails

if you want it faster in a straight line... spray it.
