there were so many mistakes made on his part. the fact that he was operating without a license, neither him nor his passenger were wearing helmets, the bike didn't have a headlight or tail light (don't tell me it's not dark enough to warrent a those at 9pm.), or a proper tag to be driven on the street. all of this compounded with the fact that he ran a red light... not to sound cold, but it sounds like it was 100% his fault and he brought it upon himself.

Sad story, but I agree, the size of the bike is irrelevant. Whatever he was on, obvisouly this kid lacked discipline and common sense. High school dropout, no license, been in trouble before. Just like the Hogan crash, I blame this on the parents/guardians. The article doesn't even mention parents so I'm assuming he was from a broken household and lived with grandma? It's a shame so many kids are growing up these days in broken households and are growing up without proper guidance and grow up to have a lack of respect and discipline and just run wild....

I said the bike played a key factor not the main factor the main is that duh your riding down one of the busiest streets in this town with no helmet at night with no light you gotta be dumb and yes I know they stopped makinging 125's I Have a 05' KTM 125sx please dont try to insult my intellagence, and if your ride and you have a 250 bring her down here to croom let me show how a real 125 gets down I laugh at 250's 4stroke or 2 stroke

you guys are cracking me the fuck up with "driving with no license" comments. WTF does having a license have ANYTHING to do with riding a MOTOCROSS BIKE on the hwy. For some reason, if a cop pulled him, i don't think it would matter one way or the other IF he had a drivers license, motorcycle license, commercial drivers license, pilots license or any of that BS. And if you start with, "if he had a license at least he knows...", well, thats just BS too, cause last time i checked a 50 question test in NO WAY proves your capability of operating a vehicle but that's a whole nother thread in itself.

So you rode an 80 first? Exactly my point. The 250 wasn't your first bike.

Again, everybody wants to say "it wasn't the size of the bike." It could have been. Between his wild, carefree attitude, and possibly being in over his head on the bike and not being able to maneuver it to avoid the car...maybe with a smaller, slower bike, idiot kid wouldn't be out doing stupid shit. Like I said, cocky, wild kid with a high horsepower car vs. same kid with a Camry. You KNOW he's going to do stupid shit with the faster car. There's a CHANCE the thrill is not there with the slow one and he's not as interested in being stupid with it.

I'm just saying there were several things that went wrong, and I think the 250 was a bad choice to give the kid.

Nothing went wrong at all.

The kid made the decision to run a red light and died.

We dont blame accidents involving cars that run red lights on the car do we?

Oh he shouldn't have started out with a V6, thats why he died when he ran the red light and hit that truck, because the V6 cant handle as well as the 4 cylinder.

Total bullshit. Granted, MAYBE if he was on a smaller bike, he might have been able to safe his own dumb ass from his desicions, but I doubt it.

You said nothing went wrong. Then you said it was because he ran a red light. Bingo! That's part of what went wrong. Idiot grandmother gives idiot grandson idiotic bike. Idiot grandson takes a passenger, no helmets, on a cruise down a public street. That's three more "somethings." Idiot runs redlight. That's the last "something" that went wrong.

the fact that he's got no valid license has absolutely nothing to do with the wreck... it does, however go to show that he lacked discipline. he knew that he wasn't supposed to operate a motor vehicle on the highway, but he chose to disobey the law. that among other things goes to show what kind of person he is.
