Age has nothing to do with maturity, i started out on a 600 sportbike when i was 16. Im still not dead yet 4 years later. granite i did not have the maturity to handle a 600 at 16, and it showed a week later when i had my first highside from being stupid. But seriously all accidents are the luck of the draw weather you walk away or walk into a grave. Every dessision you make is Half chance anyways. he could have got hit following the law riding the dirt on the side of the road. The dessision for him to ride came and went and is over now. I see nothing wrong with a 16 y/o on a 250... there are some 10 year olds that could handle a 250 with ease. (if they could ever get on it to start moving and get there damn leg up high enough) But IMHO The bike a child gets should directly relate to his (hers) maturity level. But then again in the end it does not matter, had the boy been on a 125 he would have still made that fatal dessison to blow the red and get creamed.

I live in brooksville croom is 8 minute from my house and if you dont have money for the pass in springhill there an assload of drylakes I used to take my bike to under the powerlines that run from SR50 pass countyline RD but besides that I believe if your riding on the road have respect for the bigger vehicle its always gonna win and if this was his first bike I dont care what anyone says a 250 is no starter bike for anyone I started riding when I was 16 first bike was a stock YZ80 then my second was a modded YZ80 now I ride a KTM125 and its plenty fast for me I agree with FORDDNA the bike could have played a keyroll in his death but either way RIP its a sad thing

granite, weather, dessision

Well, basically, the kid fucked up and the consequences were serious. I'm not going to point a finger at Grandma, the parents or anyone else. Somewhere along the line, we all have to start taking responsibility for our actions. Sixteen is plenty old enough to know what you are doing is stupid.

Yeah, blame the county for your kid's mistake.

Sounds like he had great rolemodels from the beginning to shape his life decisions and sense of responsibility.

Blame no one, shit happens, life goes on (for some of us), it sucks for his fam, but to place blame on them for buying him the bike and not 'supervising' him is just asinine.
Repped accordingly!

I dont think the bike matters at all in this situation. He could have been on a ten speed bicycle or an off-road hayabusa. If he was dumb enough to decide to ride without any lights or reflective material in the twilight hours, where he wasn't supposed to be riding, without the gear he should have had on, and on top of that he made the decision to run a red light, you come to one conclusion.

The fault is entirely his own, no one and nothing else can be blamed for his tragic actions. People need to stop looking far and wide for other things to blame. We all do stupid things, all of us (even those of us who dont admit it). Some of us choose to make those things alot safer, either by going to sanctioned, supervised events with medical personnel present, or by just wearing basic safety gear to improve our chances of surviving any accident we may have. But again there are some people who don't try to improve their safety while doing something dangerous. Fate may or may not catch up to these people, but when it does everyone blames everything else. He was riding a sport bike with no gear and he lowsided, now he has no skin? He shouldn't have bought a 1300/1000/750/600!!!! Or here, "He shouldn't have started on a 250," it doesnt matter at all, he shouldn't have nominated himself for a darwin award. Thats all there is to say, and I dont like to offend people like VIP does, but this kid was being stupid, and it killed him. Not his bike, nothing else, plain unadulterated stupidity. May he RIP, and may his family find consolation in their needless finger pointing.

man that grandma is an idiot. I will admit a 250 is a bit big of a bike to start off with, but I dont think would have mattered. This kid had half a brain it seems, driving a dirt bike down a busy road with no license, no helmets and runs a red light.

The adults are partially to blame for not showing the kid to have a sense of respect for riding and not to act without thinking

no shit, me too.

last time i checked though, I wasn't supposed to by riding my dirt bike down the street?

...and they dont even make 125cc two stroke bikes any more. the "small" big bike that any 17 year old would ride would be a 250, four stroke
