A motorcyclist died early Sunday morning in this crash on the Howard Frankland Bridge.
Two accidents occurred within an hour of each other early Sunday morning on the Howard Frankland Bridge, resulting in the death of one man.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said 42-year-old Eric Ramirez of Tampa died when his motorcycle crashed into the back of another vehicle as he tried to merge into another lane just after 3 a.m. FHP said Ramirez was speeding excessively at the time of the crash.

No one died in the first accident that occurred just after 2 a.m.

The accidents caused major back-ups for drivers early this morning, but the road was cleared by 6:30.

i was on the bridge last night and stuck in that traffic due to the accident it was around 3:30 am.One of the police on scene stated he was doing about 120mph and rearended looked like to me an older buick skylark.Motorcycle pushed the car into the left hand wall and the bike parts were all over the road for I would say about 200-300 feet(just a guesstimate)and the bike came to rest on the right side all. the body was covered with a white sheet when I passed. I am pretty sure he was a black or dark skinned guy because him arm was sticking out the side of the sheet. Sad shit prayers go out to his family
