My roomate needed gas on the way home so we stopped at a exxon station right out near our job. He was almost dry and I only had about 20 miles on my full tank but decided to fill up anyway. I started pumping and looked over at the price. $2.97.....Thats pretty cheap for 93.... OH SHIT!!! thats not 93! Its freakin deseil ! I pumped .3 of a gallon of desiel in my tank. But even worse my roomate did the same thing but filled his entire tank. Over 5 gallons. Good thing he hadn't started it yet. How the hell can we both be so dumb...?? I honestly dont know.

The station we were at didnt have a garage. I removed the tank and we walked about 1/2 mile to a station that did. We met a guy at the station who offered to give us a lift back to our bikes. We Rinsed the tank out with a few more gallons of fresh gas and dumped it and refilled. Ran it all the way home. No problems.

Im just going to keep diluting it over the next few miles. I dont think i did to much damage.

The best part is that the nice guy that gave us a ride had his van stolen after he dropped us off at the exxon station. He went inside and 2 seconds later some krusty white guy drove off with his van.

shit, hope this never happens to me ... would be a bummer if i was expecting to go out for a ride and had to spend an hour cleaning out the tank ... then the van getting stolen ... sucks

 

damn man! And all you wanted was some freakin' gas! Sucks, and its too bad about the guy. I hope the guy who stole the van crashes it and burns alive, then the guy gets some huge ass settlement somehow.

 

Damn should of kept the deisel I would of bought it for half price Sorry about your luck but atleast you caught it, you wont cause any damage! If you ran it it would just gum up and have to clean everything out, its just too thick. As for the guy who helped, thats just fuct up that some dick stole his van!

 

The first sign of problem will be the bike being hard to start. since you flushed it out you shouldnt have an issue. But if more diesel got mixed into the fuel than you can get away with, itll blow past the rings and get into the crankcase, because a gas engine cant burn it, then it mixes with the oil, then you have huge problems. I know you cleaned it out, but i thought i would let everyone know what happens, that way no one will try to ride home on a flex fueled gsxr with a lower end knock.
