Default i am stuck now(update on page 2)

okay my bike has sat for about a month and a half. i try and start it and it acts like it is going to start but no go. hell i even have a flame coming from my tail pipe. yes i am getting fuel and apperantly yes i am getting a spark(the flame). it is a 99 honda f4 and yes it is carbed. and yes i have rebuilt them and cleaned them out about a year ago.
gas doesn't smell old and still burns the living shit out of your eyes when it gets in it.don't ask...

battery is not weak nor is it old. i even had it hooked up to a charger so i wouldn't run it down while tring to start the bike.

run really fast and roll start it by popping the clutch...(will this work if its carbed?) well anyways my bike did this to me the other day after not riding it for a while and i roll started it down my driveway and since then it has been good to go..... i even took it to the shop and they tested everything and found nothing wrong.... (sorry for the lack of knowledge about carb vs FI on the roll start thing)

Flames out the pipe while trying to start it? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you've flooded it. Let it sit for a while, then try again to start, no choke, no throttle.

all i did was pull the choke and hit the start switcha few times.
then when that didn't work i took the choke off and tried that. ohh and no throttle on any of those times.

there is a probability that you have at least one fouled plug. Pull the air filter and spray a couple puffs of carb cleaner in the airbox as you try to start it-don't use the choke or throttle at all untill it starts to fire up, then use the choke a very little bit. also don;t burn out your starter while u r pissed off at the bike for not starting. Good luck-EZ

do you leave the fuel tank petcock "on, I know it s a rubber diaphram, but it could be bad and being that it sat that long it could have flooded the carbs.

use a wire tie if you decide teh hold open throttel, the tape will leave its residue and will not be easy to get off.

also check the fuel in the tank, smell it, it might be bad, not that fuel normally goes back within that time frame, but the way things are going right now with fuel prices/BS from the fuel companys, they are probably dielooting all grades of fuel, what was once 87 is now 83-85 and what was once 93 is now about 90 - jmo

if it does smell bad, eith drain it or go get some octane booster and add to it, plus new fuel

need tires (take offs)? PM me
need a deal on a track day? PM me

disclaimer: I sell used tires (take-offs), these tires have been used at Jennings, Homestead, etc. (road courses for those that dont know) therefor these tires are more used up on the sides than in the middle,

actually here is some other stuff i have done to it in that month and a half time frame. didn't think it mattered but who knows.

i put a new right sided clipon on and new start switch all from a f4i. now before anyone calls that as the problem. yes it did have a different connector on it and yes i changed the connectors that plug into the harness and yes it is wired correctly. i am however wondering about the throttle cables.. i know they are not backwards but maybe not adjusted right.
also i did remove the tank do do this so i guess it could be possiable to have gotten some crap in the petcock.
