can someone better explain this hold the throttle open idea and why it would work?

basically what you are doing is airing the carbs out, when you choke a bike you cut off air to the carbs and dump straight fuel into the engine which means you flood it, if done too much, it will put too much fuel in the engine and will cause the plugs to become saturatied with fuel and foul out. holding the throttle open lets air into the engine to help evaperate the fuel.

when you flood a biek too much you will have a strong odor of gas when starting/ turning the engine over

need tires (take offs)? PM me
need a deal on a track day? PM me

disclaimer: I sell used tires (take-offs), these tires have been used at Jennings, Homestead, etc. (road courses for those that dont know) therefor these tires are more used up on the sides than in the middle,

If the bike is flooded, turn off the choke, turn the throttle wide open and try and start the bike with the throttle wide open. Standard flooded start routine for carbed engine.

Did you at any time when you were messing with it take off spark plug wires?

DO NOT use the choke when you are attempting to start it from a flood. It will just make it worse.

by chance hae you checked your blinker fluid, flux capacitor

I know my bike wasnt acting right and all it was was the blinker fluid, topped her off, and gave the flux capacitor a few good wacks with a screw driver and she purred like a kitten

if you have spark and fuel, but it still doesn't even try to start.

I'd say its time for a can of gas and a match....
