small engine help (pocket bike)
sorry i dont know if this is the right place to post, but i got a pocket bike at a salvage yard for 6 dollars and need some advice from anyone that owns one. its a bigger model (headlights, fairings, turn signals, etc) and i cant get it to start. it has the battery missing and pull starters broken off, but i could get it started through a power drill and 3/4 inch bit by turning over where the pull start was. now it wont start and i think its the carburator (sp?). but is there anyone who knows how to rebuild these smaller engines or get them running, or has a pocket bike for sale? thanks for any help
most likely the drill wont be strong enough. if it sat for any period of time in the weather it will be gunked up and probably need to be taken apart and cleaned out. if you check the spark plug by placing it on the head and turning it over if it has spark check your carb. you can take it off with the gas line on open the fly and see if you get gas. if both work then mess with your jet screw that is on the side of the carb with a spring on it. i have a 49cc pocket bike engine that runs and idles but wont go full throttle due to a bent idler pin(jet screw) and it just floods inself when given gas if you wanna buy it its sitting in my back yard. as for a pull starter there is a place in st pete off 54th ave that sell them for 21$.
