Dont grab a handfull of the breaks in a panic
If you get half way through a corner and dont think you can make it dont stand it up, push it over farther and hope for the best

Try to wheelie!

no really...Never TRY to keep up with your buddies, you will probably crash. Ride at your own pace/level and make the bike just an extension of your body.

im going to take a different approach and tell you what not to do.

do not ride without an endorsement
do not try to show off to your friends
do not go over the speed limit
do not get cocky and underestimate the bike
do not ride unless you have all your gear on

follow those and you should be ok

Watch out for old people, tourists, college aged girls, truckers, cigarettes, debris, stupid squids, people on cell phones, and obey all the laws. If you ride with a group, read up on group riding etiquitte, take the motorcycle safety course!!!! And be smart, always pay attention, and don't show off, or you'll eat asphault

oh yea...don't ride with someone if you feel their riding style is dangerous! That will cause you to have to worry about where they are, and that will take your mind of what you should be paying attention to! Just say no to riding with a HOMO!

never get to cocky and think you know the bike... you'll never know the bike.. the bike controls you and is your gawd... other than that welcome aboard ride safe and watch out for the FL old people they cant even see over the steering wheel so always watch the front tires of cars to see if their changing lanes or anything.

Stay off the rear brake. If the back tire is on the ground, your not braking hard enough.

Does it affect you that much that some random guy 1500 miles away went and paid his own money for a 1000?
Do we really have to fight over who uses the back brake or not?
Do you have to argue over stupid pointless shit on the Internet?

i disagree, you should learn how to use the rear brake, test its limits at slower speeds, if it locks up, just keep it pointed straight and keep it locked up till you come to a stop. If you let it lock up and release it, it will grip violently and buck you off your seat, and maybe off the bike! Gotta use both brakes to get max braking potential.
