i always use the back brake around corners to tighten them up not a lot of pressure just enough to slow it down a little bit

The rear brake on a sportbike is for use when you suddenly find yourself in the grass. There's little reason to use it for anything else.

By design, modern sportbikes have a heavy forward weight bias, this is to allow for better feedback and handling in cornering. One side effect is that the rear wheel has much less weight on it it making it less effective for braking. Ever wonder why we've all got two big rotors with lots of pistons in the calipers up front and only one rotor in the rear? This is why.

If you've gotten yourself into a situation where it is not possible to slow down quickly enough with the front brakes alone, then you've already made a serious mistake and are not likely to make the situation better with the rear brake. As for crashing from coming off it too quickly, that's not a problem if you don't use it in the first place.

f2b, today alone you've posted that you drag the rear brake in corners, ride loud in neighborhoods, and that you're bike is more in control than you are. I hope I'm never near you on a bike. As far as I'm concerned, you may as well where a hot pink Icon Jacket that says "I'm a Squid" in big bold letters.

That's a high side waiting to happen. It's one thing to use the rear brake right as your entering a corner to lift some of the weight of the front end, but to use it in a corner, just isnt too practical. When people talk about trail braking it doesnt mean use your rear brake. Trail braking is appying slight pressure on the front brake while in the corner.

nunyo-- i drag the brake into corners to slow down a bit than release when im in the corner maybe its a bad habbit but ive noticed that it tightens it up im not talking about a 40mph turn more or less im talking about when your turning from a stoplight... ...thats the problem with most these accidents is that the rider thinks he knows everything about the bike when in fact you dont... and when you get cocky thats when shit happens... and at 5k rpms in second gear coming around a corner is loud but i rather be riding with 5k pushing me rather than 3k in 3rd. i take that corner at around 30mph in a 25mph zone... and if you'd like to buy me a pink icon jacket ill wear it for you a couple of times.

study traffic patterns. cars are your worst enemy aside from cops. watch for them to glance into one of thier side mirrors and you'll know not to turn that way. i know where a car is going to go before it even turns the majority of the time. you got to think to yourself, if i was that car would i change lanes to get around this slow mofo?!?!? the only thing your not going to be able to predict is someone pulling out infront of you. dont speed where there are crossing lanes to give yourself time to stop or change lanes incase someone pulls out in front of you and you mite make it your first 6 months.
