Default FI light 06 gsxr

The FI light that I have been hearing about finally came on on my bike. I didn't ride for about 3 days because I was in naples, and when I got back I started it up and it was on right away. I drove to work and then called west coast powersports, where I got the bike, and they said bring it in tom.. So I leave work and it is off. Next day I start the bike up and still no light, drive to my friends so we could ride together and it came back on half way there. When I got there I shut the bike off and told the service guy about it and he said I can't turn the bike off or the light goes off and they can't check it unless the lights on? So we go out and turn it on and ofcourse its off, so I go ride around a little and it's just not coming on. He said he is very sure it's the SET valve, and they come adjusted wrong from factory? He said I just have to come back when it is on so they can make sure, and I won't have any problems with it it's not a big deal. My question is is this true?? Can I ride care free with this light coming on and off? Sorry for the long story guys, and thanks in advance for any help!

Mine has come on 2-3 times and died as well. This only seems to happen when the tank is less than 1/3 full... maybe crappy gas floats?

do bike computers not store the codes like cars do?

cause that would be kinda hard to believe that it wouldn't store the trouble code for you.

it needs to be on so they can check out what code its throwing..if its off its not gonna throw a code..and it probably is the SET valve, mine did the same thing they adjusted it and it went off for awhile..but now its starting to do it again like 2 months or so later

I had this same exact problem with an SV650, the FI light would come on and it would not drop below 4,000RPM even when at idle (safe mode?). I got the same story from the service departments so apparently it does not store the error code. In any case, I took mine in when the light was not on and Motorsports of Tampa did something to it anyway because it never did it again. I put another 20,000 on that bike before I got rid of it and it never happened again.

I have yet to experience this on my gixxer, but I think it is probably just a matter of time after reading MANY posts about it.

im with OROR cause it came on when i ran the fuel level down, and since i removed the set valve 2 years ago and had the bike tuned i dont think that could be it for me.

I think you guys should get the manual and adj this valve yourselfs and then you will know for sure. I would guess it would be on some gixxer site somewhere.

I just don't trust the dealers.
