This is not a group that goes fast 100% of the time, but the corner speeds are not slow by any means. With that said, the collective experience from the regulars leaves quite a bit in reserve so the potential for the ride to get more or less spirited is there...
Yesterdays, incident happened on a very short, slow corner. We can all take a guess as to what could of happened. One thing is very clear... it is EZ to underestimate what Joe means to be experienced with the roads, our biggest worry is to intice a following rider into thinking he can match the corner speeds then be in a world of surprise when the road gets nasty & they are not sure how to react to what their bike is doing cause they never experienced it before...
With all that said... if you do show up cause you want to check out the ride. Fine, there are a few riders in the group that successfully ride with us & have a great time & care less that they can't match the lead group of riders. Your best bet would be to remain behind the regulars & gauge NOT only their speed but also the roads.
Yesterday, I rode with my wife & stayed clear of the lead group. And still had a great time.

I'm calling in sick if I have to - its been too long.....
Hopefully nothing else will present itself as a villain to my getting to ride in the sunshine. : )
Plus I have yet to see that CBR in action. : (

I'll be there but possibly only going to the Hess and back. Kinda sucks cause I already have the part memorized but I may have some plans which would mean I need to be back by a certain time. I may bring my camcorder also, I may not. I prob won't if I'm not doing the 2nd part of the run. I may even be 2 up again. I DUNNO! SO MANY UNKNOWNS right now.
As far as new people on the ride... Yesterday I brought out two first timers with me. They checked their egos at the Marathon gas station, got left behind at every corner, and caught back up at the stop signs. And ya know what? They DIDN'T wreck. I informed them ATLEAST 10 times to check their egos at the door and don't even THINK about trying to keep up with the person in front of you. If you can do that, your chances of survival are much greater. Also, DON'T bring a passenger with you if you and your passenger don't know what you're doing. There was also a guy on a busa who isn't on this board that went off the road on two consecutive turns (the first twisties in the neighborhood. Seriously, the FIRST turn into the neighborhood he went off, then the next turn. He managed to stay up though) If it's your first time, keep it simple, and just be one of the last in line to leave the gas station.
Did I really just type all that up? "blah blah blah" I think somewhere in there I said I was coming.
