One of the consequences of such notions as "entitlements" is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”

Triumph has proven to be highly reliable. They've been making inline triples for years with no problems. Im not sure why everyone says that they are moving time bombs.
BTW they've had distributors for parts in the US longer than their japanese counterparts, no problems with that.

I like the way the Triumph Daytona 675 looks, gorgeous bike, especially in the grey color or yellow.
It also seems to be decently priced. I'm not looking to go fast really, just to have a bike to ride to and from school and work since my car is almost always broken and it sucks bumming rides from everyone, and I just like the freedom of having a bike, its better than driving a car, dunno why, just the fact that I learned quick and it was one of the funnest things I've experienced.

My bike has been great. Its an 01, and I had a recall completed on it a month ago, other than that, anything that is not right on the bike is because of someone else and not an issue with reliability. I can't complain.
As far as picking a bike out... you can't go wrong with anything out on the market right now. Based on the magazine reviews, the Daytona 675 is this years winner, but like every year, what seperates last place from first is very minimal.
Getting a 675 does two things vs getting any of the other bikes:
1) its unique as it seems almost no one has one
2) its this years mag winner (which means you supposedly get the best bike on the market manufactured this year)

good call, i almost forgot, i recently read an artcile in a bike mag where they did a comparison of the 650R and SV650S...they said it was pretty much a toss up, if you were twisty oriented and wanted the cheapest, the SV was the way to go, but for a little more, around town driving comfort and ability to ride the bike for long periods of time the 650R was the next best alternative.
