Default Valve Job Time.

So my bike will be needing a valve job within the upcoming couple thousand miles. I bought my bike from Motorsports of Tampa. I get all of my maintance there, to have everything on record, and they do a decent, fairly quick job. I asked them how much a valve job would be, and it's definitely an anal rape. He estimated my bike (2005CBR600RR) to be no lower than $600 in labor + parts. The funny thing is, everyone that I have talked to at MST has admitted that almost everything is more expensive than other motorcycles dealers/shops. So I'm definitely not paying that much for a damn valve job. From your experience, what is a good shop to take my bike to that works on Honda's, and has a decent price. I don't care if it's expensive, just as long as it's not illegal anal rape like MST.

Don't get me wrong though, a lot of good people work there, awesome service, and if I were to ever buy a new bike and they carried it, I would definitely go back. I haven't had any problems. Just a little pricey sometimes.

You have 26,000 miles on your bike already?

I have 11,000 miles on her. I was just planning ahead, so I wasn't in a huge rush when the time comes for the Valve job. The first valve job is supposed to be done at 16,000 miles.

its not really called a valve job... its just checking and adding shims if needed because of wear.

a valve job is when you pull the head and have the seats reground.

but yeah, just saying.

No, but really, it's a "Valve Job" the mechanic specifically told me, that they are pulling the head, etc. It says "Valve Job" in the manual. The mechanic also identified the maintance a "Valve Job"...
