Default curious about bike maintenance

Hey guys i am in the market for a new bike and i was wondering what the kind of maintenance would be on a sport bike. Like how often things have to be done, how much money annually has to be spent and stuff like that just to get a basis for the spending. Let me know, thanks.

It's pretty simple and straight forward...

Tires
Oil
Chain
Brakes
Electrical

With even the slightest mechanical ability you will be fine.

Depends how often you ride. I bought my bike in August with 0 miles. She's going to roll over 10,000 this weekend. I have had to do a LOT of maintenance due to the amount of riding I do. ATLEAST once a week I'm cleaning/lubing/adjusting the chain. Once a month I change the oil. Every 2 months I'm changing the rear tire. 1 month ago (5 months into owning the bike) I had to replace the spark plugs (@7500 miles). In another month or so, the airfilter's going to have to be replaced (@ 11,000 miles). Oh, and it's hard as hell to keep it clean and shiny when you ride it as often as I do.

Well it would most likely be a main part of transportation seeing how if anyone had a bike they wouldnt ride it as often as possible, plus the gasmileage. You had a bike that was brand new and breaking in the motor and stuff like that. what about a bike with 10-20k miles on it. like a 99 or 01?

I ride my bike every bit I can. Every day to work, to school, and then for my multiple joy rides throughout the week. Hence the 10k miles in 6 mths. It's a brand new bike. The mileage isn't scarying me because the warranty I got with th ebike is a 5 yr/unlimited mileage warranty. So I'm pretty much good to go. By the end of my warranty I'll probably be around 80k miles. anyone think it'll last that long?

I have owned my CBR 954 for almost four years now. The bike has 18K miles and runs like a champ. I change my oil once per year using Mobile 1 red/gold cap. I replace my rear tire about once per year and I have gone through one set of sprokets/chain. Basically I ride my bike about 5-6K miles per year.

How does my maintenance schedule effect my bike? Jimmy at Kenetic Motorsports just installed a Power Commander and a custom map on my stock 954. The bike made 138 hp to the wheel. My bike was also broken in easy and by the book for the first 600 miles. Go figure.
