Suggestions on First Bike
Hey guys, I am currently in the search for my 1st bike, I dont know anywhere near as much about them then I do cars.. So with that in mind -
What model do you think is right for myself- (begineer)
And what can you all tell me - as far as good to know advice.
Appreciate all Intelligent responses!
Oh yeah- Im not trying to get somethin crazy bike to "race" in.. Just somethin to learn on at a nice slow steady pace!
*Dont wanna spend more then 4grand (prefer less) - after all it is my 1st bike!

The sticky thread has a lot of good information.
Best advice I have:
- Buy David Hough's Proficient Motorcycling read it at least twice.
- Go to an MSF Riding Course, statistics show that you are less likely to become a statistic if you have formal training than if you let a friend teach you
- Start in the dirt if you can. Dropping a motorcycle seems to be inevitable, if you do this with a dirtbike it's no big deal. Dirt is also less likely to hurt you. Additionally you wil learn low traction riding techniques that can save your butt when you come across the sudne oil slick or sandy corner.
- For your first streetbike, 250 to 500cc with as little plastic as possible. If you learn quickly, consider it temporary. Small light bikes will give you confidence that you won't have on a less forgiving ride. Confidence and fun are directly linked to eachother on a motorcycle.

Heres the link to another new rider's thread, that everyone gave good advise in.
It depends alot on you, are you going to push yourself to hard...then start on a 250 or 500. The 250 is awesome for a 1st bike, cheap, but you will get tired of it. It's very forgiving! Good luck!

honestly, if you do a search, theres a dozen of these, recently. all kinds of good info there. if youve got a bit more cash, i've got a great starter bike that'll be trouble free for quite a while... just had a lot of service done to it.

i would def get a 600. an older one too. this way if you drop it, which everyone does, its no big deal. my first was a cbr 600 f2. im glad i learned on it and dropped it twice. i got my money back out of it and now ride a busa. trust me baby steps and lots of miles. dont buy a new one whatever you do. make that the 2nd bike you own
THX for all the input--- never been in this Bike forum part of TR be4, so catchin up as if Im a NEWB all over again. lol
Ok so what year is good to start off at?
Is a honda CBR goin to be as good to me as my previous honda cars?
There has to be a bike that people love just 4 its reliability and I guess other attributes?
What mileage should I look for?
And Im guessin I will get bored quickly with a 250cc? Im thinkin of a 500 or 600..
THX again!
