There is usually a printout from the radar gun after each stop. That and history is recorded within the radar gun. Look on your ticket, it says the date and time. What the court can and will do will have a history of every "shot" the gun had made on the given day and look at the time frame on your ticket. If there is no 74 then it never happened.

bad assumption, he can win. The cop has to show evidence supporting that he was going the said speed. If he cant show evidence then the case is thrown out. Thats how it works, and when thats the case the cop usually wont show up.

no he doesn't.
this isn't criminal court, all the judge needs is the cops word. to win something outright you need proof on your side to beat his word. and of course he has none.
