Me vs. Officer.

So Im going down Himes after picking up a package for work, that I had to do tonight, and what happens? I get pulled over... me... no license yet, no insurance, no registration...... 48 in a 30. Bad.
The officer flags me down I slow to a crawl and prepare to get arrested.
The officer asks for my license and registration, and I promptly tell the officer, that I do not yet have my learners for the bike yet, and that I just got it since my car blew up. it's still in my friend's name, so I told the officer that I was borrowing the bike. Which is kinda true. Since it is still in his name. The officer, after several minuites looking the bike up and looking me up. Tells me that riding with out a license is a criminal offence, and I could very well goto jail tonight.
I start to freak a little bit, and Im nothing but polite to the officer.
He does a little more writing and more research, he comes back to me. Hands me the ticket, driving with out a license, and says he's not ticketing me for the 18mph OVER the speed limit I was doing. Please keep in mind I wasn't trying to speed. I was laying down on the bike, in 6th gear. one hand on the tank and just comming back from the hour i spent at UPS picking up my motherboard for work. I explained to the officer, that I had no intentions on speeding, I didn't realize I was going 18mph over, and that Im REALLY sorry.
Well, the officer told me that I can't drive the bike home. He said however he knows that I shouldn't leave my friend's bike in this neighborhood, and that he cannot just let me ride away with out a license. So he tells me that he's going to NOT look at me ride away, and to do the speed limit all the way home.
Needless to say. I have to set a court date today, and get my license right away. That's what Im doing here in a few hours. I can't even sleep. I got way lucky tonight. The officer, was one of the good ones. he let me WAY off the hook. He very well could have sent me to jail. He very well could have towed the bike away, and slaped the cuffs on me.
Im fixing the license situation this morning, and setting the court date.
hopefully, the judge will be good to me, and not send me to jail. This will be my second offence driving w/o a license. First being my D/L suspended back in 2003. Hope all goes well.
PS. Im not looking for any sympathy from anyone. Just an FYI that SOME cops out there aren't just looking to fuck everyone's day up.

wish I got one of those officers. I spent all yesterday in jail for reckless driving and got my bike impounded. All this for only going an "estimated" 85 in a 45, "estimated" because the cop didn't use radar he just saw me leave a light fast and pulled behind me at prolly nearly a 1/4 mile, didn't notice him til he was right behind me when i was waiting to turn left(undercover no lights powder blue caprice) . I mean i could see trying to ticket me for it but taking me to jail was ridiculous.
Lucky man... have you got your license yet?

One of the consequences of such notions as "entitlements" is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”

I've seen this happen a lot. always seems like they let you go when they have sooooo much on you but if you would of had everything in order you would gotten that ticket for 18 over and payed out the ass. this is no big deal. just get your crap in order and take the poof to your lawyer and you shouldn't even have to show up for court.....
court fees is all i think you'll have to pay
