Drag race?
The light turns green... then you go
Seriously, come out to Sunshine on any given Wednesday night.
It's low key and a lot of fun.
You could learn a lot from just watching... even more by racing.

Sorry I guess I could've been a bit more descriptive. I meant about the launch. Taking off from a light just normally for me is still a controlled burn. It's just not methodical yet. I couldn't imagine trying to launch it like I do my Z.
Im sure most people don't just rev up and dump the clutch. I would imagine a speedy slip of the clutch and a lot of foward leaning would be involved.

Launching a bike = eating the clutch. Otherwise you're end over end fast. When I used to drag my Magna (you know, at the track
) I'd lauch it from 7,000rpm and just eat the clutch to keep it at 7k until it fully engaged. You can't do too much damage to a wet clutch by doing that, and it definitely beats roasting the tire or pulling the front wheel when lauching.
I did do a straight drop at 5,000rpm once. It scared the living shit out of me! The bike was fucking sideways!

You want to come out as hard as possible without blowing away the tire or wheelieing "too" high... you don't want to bog out or drop too low in the RPM range either.
Pick a launch RPM that's pretty conservative.
Systematically work your way up till you find the sweet spot.
Document what you do in a log... it will help prevent from always recreating the wheel.
