Check your manual. It should probably tell you how much play is allowed. When I got my Suzuki brand new, it had a little play and got a little worst as I was breaking it in. After my first oil change, I adjusted and now it's fine. If you feel it's way to loose, just adjust as needed, just make sure it's not too tight, should have a slight amount of play.
