no choice, only dealer around that could do it and not screw me out of warranty. Plus they hooked me up with a ton of other stuff that made it all right. new hugger, new tune, some recall stuff, and a few other odds and ends. the valve job was 284 plus parts(valve cover gasket and shims) plus an hour for the new tune and tax. Just because a place says 120 for the work doesn't mean they wont rape you on the part. BTW once i'm out of warranty i'll be doing all the work myself.

How many miles do you have? Seems a little early to have the valves checked on a 2004-model bike. I pla on getting mine checked at 20k miles......maybe.

got over 9k, they're supposed to be done at every 8k. If you'd check the svc intervals on your bike you'll find out how often its supposed to be done. its usually in the ball park of 8 to 12k.

well i say the valves because i have 25500 miles and the rattle is coming up from infront of the tankand high on the motor. (by the valves. and i have heard what rattleing valves sound like on a car. i will however say i am not sure where or what the CCT looks and much less weather i have a manual one or what. but i will look into this too.
