rtm is awesome- theyve done all the maintenence on my roommate's bike, as well as theyll be doing the maint on mine. they also worked on, and dynoed/tuned his zx12r.

Do you remember who tuned the zx12, or how long ago it was? Just curious.

$165 is a damn good deal on a full valve adjustment. That's usually a 5 hr. job. We'd charge $250-$300 to adjust the valves at R&R.

There is alot of labor involved in doing such a job. First you have to take the plastics and tank off. Then the airbox, and carbs. After that you need to take the valve cover off. Then you stick the feeler guages under the cam lobes and calculate how far each valve is tight or loose so you can shim each one accordingly. To shim the valves you still need to remove the cams and buckets. Once you have all the shims in place you need to reinstall your cams and stick the feeler guages back under the lobes to make sure everything is exactly within factory spec. Then you have to put the rest of your bike back together.

Does it affect you that much that some random guy 1500 miles away went and paid his own money for a 1000?
Do we really have to fight over who uses the back brake or not?
Do you have to argue over stupid pointless shit on the Internet?

five hours? the plastics and tank and carbs took only about a half hour to do maybe 45 minutes. and the carbs was what took most the time. i just don't feel comfortable going into the valves otherwise i probably would do it myself.

Vlves are a 5-6 hr job depending on who you talk to. find out the shops hourly rate, multiply it by the recomended hours and thats your starting price. So what if it takes 'em 2 hrs to do a job that is supposed to take 5, you're gonna pay for it one way or another. No need to punish somebody for being good at what they do. Just as a refrence, i just spent $500 to get my valves done. Yeah it sucks ass, but it was done right and i've got no complaints what so ever.

cam chain tension maybe loosen - its need to replace. its cause the engine randomly rattle while idle and running. its won't hurt in the short time thought - but cheap to get it replace. btw i have a honda 600 F3 - and thats a common hondas problem- actually thats almost always the FIRST problem on (old?) hondas.
