Thumbs up Your opinoins...

Well, within the next 2 months I am going to be purchasing a new bike. This will be my first street bike. I have rode motorcross since I was about 10 as well as four wheelers and a few street bikes. I have been talking to a few people I know and they say not to go with a 600cc. I wll be buying a brand new bike and they say that I will grow out of it to fast comming from my background. So I started to look at the GSX-R750. Seems like a really nice bike but if I am going to spend the money I figure why not go for the 1000cc bikes. I have very good self control when it comes to pushing the limits of myself and machine. My question for everyone here who rides: What is your personal opinion on a good bike to start out with comming from a motorcross background? I am looking for something that handles and has power. This will not be a go straight type of deal I want something I can take on the twistes and have some real fun and not grow out of too fast. Let me know what you think.

i should start off by saying that you can't go wrong with a 600. these days they have plenty in them and i highly doubt that you will push the bike past its limits.......but if you are like me, it is nice to have some extra power. I have a '03 600 and '03 1000. A friend has my 1000 which i have pretty much sold to him, so i have been on the 600 as of late. i have a lot of fun because i can push it a lot harder without the added stress the 1000 brings. The '04 600's have plenty in them to last you as long as you have the bike. Now on to the GSX-R750. That bike is sweet. At only 5 pounds heavier than the 600 and over 20 extra horses, it will stay right there with the liter bikes and eat them in the curves. Everyone thought the 750 would die with the open class racing, but suzuki has shocked everyone. Most likely the bike of the year.....I am fighting myself on not running down to powersports and picking one up. The 750 would def be my top choice, but all the 600's have plenty in em. Hope I helped out......if you pick up this months sport rider (or maybe motorcycle mag) the 750 is featured....might want to check it out.

I would say go with the 750. It's good on the turns and it has good power, also has good aftermarket support for making it faster if you get bored: . I didn't opt for the 600 because I think it would get slightly boring when it comes to power.

Default got goatsex?

600s have ample power to do anything that you would want to do. You cannot understand the power of a 600 CC sportbike until you have owned one.

Most people never take their 600s to their potential, and 98% of people with literbikes will never take them to their potential.

Save some money, save some pain, aim for a 600.

I didn't say they don't have any power, just less. In my opinion the 750 is a better option as it's not to powerful for a beginner and can be made pretty damn fast if so desired. I look at it as a happy medium.
