Default scared to lean for a turn?

hey guys. i am a new rider and i seem to have a bit of a phobia. i dont really like to lean wen riding. yes, it is a necessity because thats basically the only way you turn in a bike. but it seems scary as hell. i have this image of me leaning even the slightest bit, and the bike going into a spinoff and throwing me into traffic. i just always seem scared because i think the tire wont grip and let move around. anyone have tips? i honestly dont like leaning. i just turn the handlebars most of the time.

Man only answer i got is ride a cruiser not to much leaning. I love cornering. You gotta overcome ya phobia there is no better rush than a fast sharp corner on a sport bike.

go to a empty open parking lot and just practice doing small soloms gettting bigger as you feel more safe, or you can take the MSC and they should be able to get you leaning in no time i HIGHLY RECOMMEND going even if you think you already know it all...but your fears won't go away unless you do it unfortunately

Bud, I've only been riding for a couple months, hell, I had that damn thing leaned a lot further than I ever had before this morning on my way to work. I love it!

Anyway - get some gear so you don't fear the rash. Take your time, and ease into it.

you'll get used to it!

go riding through some twisties by yourself.. push yourself a little bit more each time... there is no reason for you to be scared.. if u are warm your tires up and get em nice n sticky before you get out there... I know my tires are usually pickin up shit from the road and flingin it on cars behind me by time I'm ready for corners... sometimes they arent... the tires that u probably have on your bike are the same tires people drag knee with on the track.. think about that... and u can't lean a little bit??? quit being a pansy and build yourself up. Aiight man? if u want someone to go riding with let me know or I'm sure anyone else on here that has a bike and I'm sure most of us will be more then happy to show you how to lean and to help you conquer your fear... it's all in your mind... fuck.. trying doin highchairs if u don't like leaning... LMAO jfwy..

definitely go to a parking lot or some open road where there won't be cars. have on gear so you won't be afraid of getting rashed up. lowsiding shouldn't give you any serious pain if you have gear on. you can probably get to 30ish in a nice level parking lot and lean that bitch way the fuck over. once you do this, the fear will probably be gone. just gotta do it, but i don't recommend starting in traffic if your scared. you go into a right hander and don't lean enough to make the turn and you'll find yourself in oncoming traffic.

The first thing you need to do to build your confidence is make your your tires are good. Flat spots, cupping, low/high air pressure, and cold tires, (just to name a few) are some things that might take away from your bike having a confident feel when cornering. Another thing that will help you is to follow someone who corners better then you.

By the way...

What kind of bike to you have?
What kind of tires are on it?

I'm a new rider as well. The first couple times I road I was a bit stiff in turns. But, slowly, I am getting more comfortable with leaning. Shit, since we're both pretty new at this...we should practice riding around together! Plus, it's better to ride in groups anyways. Let me know.
