gotz me a bike!
the old gsx-r 1100's were badass, i rode a '94 1100, its got some balls. if the motor is tapping just get a valve adjustment before u go throw in a whole new motor, if u get an 1100 make sure u get a watercooled ('93 and up motor), the air cooled ones sucked ass.

not oil cooled, water cooled, from '92 and down they didn't have radiators, they were air/ oil cooled, which lead to overheating problems which is why they got watercooled motors in '93

yes they were considered oil cooled which has the oil cooler cooled bye air, from their inception in 85 i think to 92. it must have worked rather well or it would have been changed sooner one would think. ive heard people using big bore kits in them without any problems from overheating, but im sure some did have problems. anyway, whatever!
old GSXR motors are known for piston slap, think it has something to do with the cylinder walls going out of round or something like that wearing prematurely. Pull the motor and take it down to R&R, if anybody will work on a Gixxer it's them.
