I have put 13K on my 02 gsxr which was my first season and I added another 10k on the 00 R1 this season which puts that at 24k. My boss at work is riding a 93 CBR 600 with 120K on it. He doesn't even come close to abusing the thing but it does start and run perfect on the orig engine.

i met a guy with a '95 gsx-r with 52,000 miles on it. original everything, even stock clutch. all he's done is oil changes, tune-ups, carb cleaning, fork seals, tires, chains, sprockets

before I sold my 00 gixxer 600 in 03 I had 15K miles on it... busa in the 4 months I had it before it got stolen had 4500 miles.. Not to mention I've been deployed a total of a year of the 3 years I had the 600...go figure. and now I have no bike.

a bike can last a long time as long as you do these things on top of not abusing the living shit out of the bike:
-oil changes every 2-3,000 miles
-scheduled tune-ups (plugs and power packs and VALVE ADJUSTMENTS) whenever the factory recommends
-change your sprockets and chains when they start to wear out (hint:if your chain is so stretched u need to take links out, its time for a new one)
-keep your brakes good
-get your carbs cleaned (for those who apply)
