Yet another water pump seal
so 4 monthes ago i was riding my bike and i noticed it was over heating, i replaced the rad. cap, and the fan is hardwired so its on when the bikes on. and i found out i blew a seal in my water pump. so i replaced all the seals in the water pump and my bike ran great until saturday. i was going to clearwater to see my mother who was in town for a soccer tournment and the seal blew again. does anyone know if this is just a defect in this gsx-r since i was the first year it was watercooled. i don't mind replacing it, its $3 for the seal that blew and $35 for all the seals in the pump. but its just an inconvience.

No, not a commont thing. It's not unheard of, but not common. I think you need to figure out why your blowing your seals. Are you running your preassurized crank case? Have you taken your water pump out or broken the original seal since you first put it in?

Do we really have to fight over who uses the back brake or not?
Do you have to argue over stupid pointless shit on the Internet?

but since than i've re-wired almost the whole bike, flushed the headlights with a new mounting system to the race fairings, rebuild all the brakes, rebuild the water pump, cleaned and re-jetted the carbs properally, re-geared the bike, switched out the oil pan, got the fork seals done, and the plastics are looking 10 times better, it has bolts instead of zip-tie except for a few missing bolts. got a new battery, new tires and valve stems. i also sanded down the rusted exhaust and got it coated with some high temp. flushed some cleaner looking turn signals. its looking and running a lot cleaner, u should stop by and check it out, you wouldn't even recognize it.

as for my water pump deal, i went and ordered it. i found out last time i ordered the seals that they forgot to give me one last time, and its the one that i'm having problems with. its the oil/water seal at the end of the bearings. i thought it was the mechanical seal but all switching that out did was hold the coolant out of the oil for that 3/4 monthes it wasn't overheating. so the problem will be fixed friday when the parts come in, i'm also putting in new bearings.
