anyone got a speaker box layin around?
well i bought everything to hook it up. me and my friend go to put in the dash kit from best buy, biggest piece of shit i have ever seen in my life. my radio moves around everywhere! if we didnt make adjustments to the original kit anytime i hit the brakes my radio would have either flew into the dash or onto my floor.
then when it comes to gut check time my damn amp that i bought off of some ricer is totally fucked and doesnt work. i can hear vocals from it but no base. so i am now looking to find another 1000 watt amp and prolly some nice door speakers for front and rear that can handle the volume.

If you hear vocals it sounds like the amp is working. You need to make sure that if it has a built in xOver that it is not set to highpass, for your subs you need it set to low pass so that the highs are filtered out instead of the lows.
highpass= filter out lows and pass only highs, (vocals)
lowpass= filter out highs and pass only lows (bass, or as you would call it... base)
One way to check is running a low frequency test tone and pluging in a DMM to the speaker outputs to see if you get AC current out... if you do... the amp is playing the test tone... checking out OK.
What kind of amp is it? I may be able to help you out before you go buying more equipment like a dumbass... I can't stand people undermining the complexity of audio.
