The last unfinished Ford GT40 to be finished at a later dat

1969 Ford GT40 Mk III by J.A. Ackley

Ford commissioned 20 GT40 chassis for the planned Mk III program. Of those, only seven became Mk III examples, all built for the street, leaving 13 unused. This GT40, P/1085, is one of those 13 and is the last to be numbered by Ford Advanced Vehicles.



Gil Jackson owned the rolling chassis from new in 1969 to 2006. During that time he accumulated a bunch of parts to finish the GT40 but never completed it.



Jackson sold it to a friend who in turn sold it to Jonathan Turner in 2007. Turner shipped it to Ian Jones’ Racing Fabrications in the U.K., and they finally finished in March 2009. The next month, the Ford GT40 made its first laps on track at Donington Park with Turner behind the wheel.
