my only concern with the diference in front to rear tire combo is that if those 555R II's are indeed "R" comps you will have copious amounts of plow/understeer that is all i was sayin. the worst R comp is better than the best street tire.

No, I said it was a bad idea as well. buy some actual manly wheels for that thing

Eventually, a LONG time from now, the MR2 will be clad in 10" wide wheels. MANLY wheels.

Zate: 16x14 for the rear..... http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/

and whatever you can fit up front on 17's... (gotta clear the brakes...) in fact, go to the 14" brembo's and run 18's up front...

lol.. i am gonna go with the 555R IIs at the back..and the falkens up front i think..

for the strip.. leave the fronts alone.. run the American Racing wheels with the 275/50/15's.. they will clear the rear brakes i am told..

if that stuff doesnt work out right..i'll change it..

this weekend is autoxing on the stock tires .. shoudl be amusing

btw.. jesse.. would you run 10" wheels all the way around ?

i thoujght you guys just told me running wider tires up front wouldntbe a good idea?

i know the Cobb tuning WRX ran 10" wheels all the way round... 285 series tires aswell.. pulled some impressive skidpad numbers.

And the COBB WRX did SHITTY at Nationals. The car looks and sounds cool, but its not that fast. The damn thing was parked next to me in Kansas and he owners borrowed my jackstand while they awaited an overnighted custom wheel. It was also in Ft. Myers last weekend, and again, did crappy. Mike Kings little 86 Civic easily beat it.

For my SM2 MR2, 8" fronts, 10" rears. MR2s have weight bias to the rear to begin with, and so definately need the extra rubber back there.

ok.. and while i have your attention.. Kumho Ecsta MX's ?.. whats your opinion ?

I am thinking maybe just leaving the tires alone.. get some DR's for the drag strip and just autox on stock tires. i dont think the mach1 will ever be competitive.. so i might aswell spend the money else where or save it..hehe

Umm, Leo seems to like his. Only guy around here that has them is a MkIV supra. he says they dont feel as good as BFG KDs, but they seem to stick as well....looking at lap times.

My opinion, good performance street tire.

Zate, you'll NEVER know if a Mach 1 is compettive until you or someone else actually trys. That means going to more than 2 or 3 events a year.

The Bullit Mustang is still probaly the most competitive Mustang in F-stock.

honestly jesse.. i'm not gonna be competitive in this car for the reason that.. simple mods.. that i want to do not for autox... put me in diff categories.. where my other mods wont let me be competitive.. ie.. shifter.. if i upgrade the shifter.. iam no longer in the stock class.. but the shifter doesnt provide that much of an advantage.. so i either have to not upgrade that.. or go all out in what ever class it bumps me into..

that and the fact is i cant build a car thats both competitive in drag racing.. and autoxing.. it will do ok at both.. but not REALLY good at either.. i consider leonards car like that.. good autox car.. does ok on the drag strip too.. (his is set up more for autox though)

i'll wait to build an autox car.. soon after i buy my house and get settled.. building a little impreza L that should surprise some people

locally, you can still be competitive in anything. Just build it however you want and come out and play. Who cares about being competitive? That was the intent of my last post. Since its not that important to you, just have fun. Hell, you want to autocross a Mach 1 with 600 rwhp and Mickey Thompson skinnies upfront...hell, ill be first in line for a ride. Fast or not, it'll be entertaining.
