[h=2]Busch's Pocono win adds asterisk to Cup record[/h] Sunday, 30 July 2017

With a victory Sunday at Pocono Raceway, Kyle Busch now has a win at every active Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series track.
Or at least technically he does.
"Finally! Somebody [with] 'technically,'" Busch pointed out in his post-race news conference. "There you go. Asterisk."

Yes, Busch is gladly taking the asterisk, because there's one other track where he needs an "official" win. Because on that one track, Busch won in a non-point paying event – the All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Entering this season, only Pocono and Charlotte remained on the Joe Gibbs Racing driver's list of tracks where he hasn't won.


"It feels really good. I wasn't sure which one was going to be last," Busch said. "It's funny how Charlotte was always my favorite track as a kid growing up, watching the all-Star races, the night races, the sparks flying. One of the most eventful races and most memorable finishes was the '92 All-Star Race there. I recall seeing that as a kid.
"Always loved and enjoyed Charlotte. That's the last place I have yet to 'win' a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at. It's pretty cool to get it down to one. We certainly have had fast racecars. We've been really close at a lot of these tracks to continually make history, but haven't been able to do so this year.
"It feels good to get this one. Hopefully, it just kind of snowballs from here and we're able to continue with wins."
In 447 career Cup starts, Busch has 39 wins. He has won at least one race every season since he started on the circuit full time in 2005.


Additionally, Busch is responsible for Toyota Racing's first and 100th win in the Cup Series. And of the 400 wins the manufacturer has between all three series, Busch earned 155 of them.
