This day was at Homestead Raceway for a Hooked on Driving event.

Here is something affordable for you. CFR SCCA is hosting what they call a PDX. It will be at Daytona International Speedway. You will not get on the high banks during this track day but it's very affordable. $90.00 for four 20 minute sessions.

There's a cheap event in Gainesville behind the dragstrip.

Gainesville Road Race Club - The 2011 season

The problem is they don't really offer instruction and that, well, is a bit dangerous if you ask me.

Yeah I signed up for the gainesville event and have been thinking the same thing; that they say "no experience neccessary"... I'm worried of threshhold braking into a turn and having the doofis behind me slam into me. They say that they only allow 5 cars on track at a time and that you need to keep a "safe distance between the car in front of you" but from what I can tell I dont think they have corner workers to monitor drivers?

I dont know, the more I think about it I might bail out and just do the PDX thing; I had no idea about that. How long is the daytona Road course? is is just the small infield part that the Grand-Am cars run on?

I think on the 26th instead I might come down and watch the Chin event and possibly hop a ride with you Craig as a passenger?

I have updated the CFR Solo II PDX page so there is a pic of the course layout they will be using.

Sorry I cannot tell how long the waiting list is. There are two email addresses on there, you can ask Art or Tim, maybe they know.

I don't know what the official name of the layout is, the SCCA call it the school course. I have driven the full 24 hr course in my mr2. That is one of the reasons I bought my Mustang, the mr2 was not made for that 24hr course. Anyway, I want to get on those high banks again in my Mustang but it will not be in this PDX.

Wohoo!

Tim emailed me yesterday to let me know that they might be opening up another group for that weekend to run!!! We should know something by the end of the week or early next week.

I hope so, I joined the SCCA yesterday just so I could sign up for this, and was dissapointed that it was filled up...
