Run 4 heats, 2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon like you always have. People that are hot can leave at lunch if they want. All the heats are shorter, so people are more comfortable. The only time heat affects me is when I am standing out on course for 2 hours straight, or trying to squeeze 8-10 runs in on one heat.
Also when you have shorter heats, it's more likely that everyone will get at least a couple dry runs or run at all if lightning pops up.
Just my opinion, take it or leave it. I don't care. I will still come out regardless.

The format at the last event was pretty brutal, over 1hr straight at a station...... I can't carry enough water out to a station with me to cover that much time. I guess I'll have to bring a cooler out or something. Probably need a few extra porta-potties too, you've got to keep the fluids going in this heat!
I walked back up to the porta-potty and grabbed waters to bring back to my station at least once. I was at station 2 so it wasn't a big deal. The guys working way out in BFE didn't have that luxury.
Especially with the dually picking up and dropping off course workers, what are we gaining overall, 30 mins?
If we are dead set on this format, a shorter/quicker course might be in order. 50 sec course X 2432432325454 runs puts you well over 1hr.
If we are showing up at the buttcrack of dawn, we should do 5 morning/5 afternoon on a 45-50sec course
Having said that........ reg'd...

Thanks for the pointers. I agree standing out there is brutal. Anything over an hour sucks.. We had planned to try this format to see if it worked.
But always open for suggestions. The problem with a break is that it burns time. I would estimate what would equate to 1 run per group. I am ok with giving up the run to make sure every one is happy and Hydrated. Its something we can talk about either here or at the drivers meeting. I am ok with a vote RE what the station workers feel is fair and less stressful.
I also agree a more flowing shorter course would be beneficial. I will discuss this with Dennis and we can see what we can do.
We never do more than 5 runs per heat. Usually 5 in the Am if there is rain in the forcast. then 4 in the afternoon. I try to keep each heat no more than 90 min.

Water truck? Have someone drive out the truck during the heat to bring water to the workers?
Could be done fairly quickly.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Word. we have not tried this new format yet. June will be the 1st one.
I can easily put a cooler in the truck and run out with water after the 1st hour. dropping it off to the corner workers. If its just a water break that is easy. If its a port o let break. that gets more difficult.
