BMW CCA may 17th results up
This video just reminded me, WAY too many cones on this course..... at speed choosing where to place the car in a few places was very difficult, especially the return portion of the course.... all fast....... the number of "off courses" speaks for itself.
It could have been challenging without being unnecessarily hard to read.

I will always use speed and design to suck people in so they are either going to fast or the wrong line. The next will be more open but just as hard to read.
Dennis, don't take course comments personally.
Just look to see what positive things you can get out of them, especailly when it's from a guy like Charles who knows the score.
Welcome comments because it's much better than geting no feedback.
I worry when I do not get feedback/comments.
Though I fight it I'm often "reminded" to keep the course design clean, simple, and well defined. Even to the point of adding cones to define the proper line. (aarrrrgghhhh!) Probably good for a non-hard core group that is not looking for a challenge, but rather just getting a clean run.
Personally I like minimal cones, and optional paths. (and add tight and tecnical when I'm in a Miata).

Come on Dennis admit it.. We just got 50 brand new Shiney cones and you wanted to use them...
Also a note to every one on the list. The Airport has stated there will be a speed limit of 60 mph on the runway. They will be doing spot checks, having a sherif come out and use radar. So for our club its Re learning the course design to make sure we have a good handle on the speed, yet keep it fun.

Generally speaking:
Hard to find the fastest line = good design
Hard to find the course = poor design
For local events, a course that is easy to follow is most important. You can toss some tricks in there like false apexes or misplaced apexes to keep people on their toes... the good drivers will spot the proper line right away... but a particularly tasty false apex will still often suck them in!
But, striving to make a course "hard to follow" is not the way to go, in my opinion. Go for "easy to follow, but hard to drive fast".

Another good indicator is unless I missed something, I think it took Danny 3 runs to drop 4 seconds. If he's shaving that kind of time even with his experience, then it was hard to "find the course".
As I said before, the course idea wasn't bad, just way too many cones.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

you can't claim FTD when the rules require a DOT tire!
