Griits team ran the Z to the end. I think they were coming in for oil more than gas.

And the did the whole weekend on a set of tires. So there is noting left of those tires. They really got everything out of that car. I did hear some scraping out of the rear brakes when they unloaded it. So im betting the pads are also gone.

Our car is still on the trailer. It will start but barely idles and wont rev up. Im planning on taking the car over to a retired BMW mech on the weekend. Ill get it fixed and our ofr a few Sebring events before the next Lemons.
Ihad a great time.
The car was well balanced, had just enough power to hang with the v8s in the back and main straight.

I guess its a learn as you go ehh. We had the cooling perfect this time. No issues. in the first 7 hours we didnt need to add any oil or water.
Next step is to go thru the wiring and get all the non needed things out of the car. RE heater core, wires etc.

We know its possible for a e30 to win.. I guess we need to work out all the bugs.

What's more interesting is how each team got there. The winning car wasn't nearly as fast as the 2nd place car. They won it by keeping the off-track time very short, quick driver changes, and by simply driving consistently.

Barry, I always wanted to rip all of the wiring out of that car, but the whole engine management system is so complex and I didn't know enough about it to make that effort. As soon as I cut the first wire, I'd be taking responsibility for it, and I didn't want that responsibility!

I know a little more about it now (a little) and would almost be comfortable enough to tackle it if I had a good manual and plenty of time. Get rid of a crapload of relays and unused wiring... make a clear and simple wiring diagram to troubleshoot from. But, I wouldn't want to start with a non-running car. The car needs to be running so that we can know whether each step we take with the wiring has worked or not.

All the Tampa teams drove great this weekend. I tried to give the Tampa cars a little extra room. I know Loren and I traded spots a few times back and forth, like ET, we were backing off on saturday after being 45 seconds out of first place.. trying to avoid the curse. In retrospect we should have just ran hard the entire event and risked the curse, but oh well. We ended up in 4th, 13 laps back.

I was surprised at the Z, I didn't think it would be as quick as it was. Great job. Sucks that ET's E30 broke

I did manage to get the Civic in a few 4 wheel drifts somehow, damn Azenis mounted inside out on the rear of the car helped with that I think

I finished the race in the civic with no clutch (master cylinder failure/leak). That was fun, especially when I got black flagged for going 4 off to avoid that dipshit in the camo Civic. All I saw was his fender coming into the door, so the dumbass had to see me.

Hopefully the Sentra will be ready for Sept, that way we'll have another all Florida/Tampa area team

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

It took me a while to figure out what "ET's E30" meant.
Is there a cheat sheet somewhere with all these abreviations? I'm getting tooo old for this E36 M3. (I have no idea what I just said.)

Great Job Todd. Yes please get your car done for next time so we can have another ALL FL team..

New Video up.. its from the cursed stang , the 1st video has the ET BMW at 2:55 in and the Taj at 6:00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00i-fMM2_pA

The 2nd link is their fastest lap time of 59.7 Most cars were 1:04 to 1:07. You can see why they were cursed. Besides being a bit over budget, They had headers a cam, Bieltein sports and an aluim driveshaft. Look at the driving.. He doesnt hold his line. Goes in way too hot on the inside and has to cut across the track.

Never thought I'd say this, but their driving isn't that bad. Very controlled, not hitting anyone, just fast and somewhat aggressive. Sort of drives like I do, hard for me to have fault with that! You can't really see what's going on behind him, but I think in the places he tracks out wide, he's passing the outside car in the turn, so there's nobody out there. He's just taking a somewhat modified racing line where he can... same thing I do. It's what you have to do to maintain speed and be fast out there.

What really pissed me off about them was that stupid siren that they were so proud of. Were it not for that, I probably wouldn't have noticed them so much or been so annoyed by them.

That 59 second lap was just plain lucky. They managed to get a complete lap in with no dense traffic. In fact, if you watch from start-line to start-line, he only had to pass about 7 cars in the entire lap! A nice piece of driving, really.

The siren is what annoyed me about them also. I heard them talking about getting crushed and they fully believe it's just because they had the Mustang, but it wasn't. We didn't even vote for them, but they were in the running because of that stupid siren.

Oh and Leh Keen is a GT Grand Am driver who drives a 911 Cup car. He's not the best driver around (just has money, that's all you need for that license) but he's certainly not bad...

Yea not saying Leh was bad. But agressive. Id say driving near his potential.. Not an Ideal mix with very inexperienced drivers also out on the track.

He's very agressive, and he's an asshole

Yeah the worse thing about Lemons is the never-been-on-track drivers. You can definately tell who has experience and who doesn't.

It's cool that they are getting out there and all, but I wouldn't mind a "2 track day" or something requirement so they'll look around before turning into you...
