Tampa Rallycross September 30th
Looks like a fun event but I can see my car bottoming out horribly and not enjoying itself through the dirt
I'll have to check it out sometime though... interesting little contest.

Bitchin' Camaro, Bitchin' Camaro, I'm gonna buy me a Bitchin' Camaro!
Thanks for the flash back Muddy.
If I had more than 2 1/4 inches of clearance on the Fiero, I'd have come out. Maybe I should have run the F-150. Not a bad idea.

hey i went. it was a lot of fun. first time ever taking my car on a rally cross and messed up a few times but learned in the process. and over the day i improved i think. wanna do it again for sure.
As for bottoming out, the course was very forgiving, unlike many rallycross courses East bay has a nice solid Clay base which suprisingly gets grippier as the day goes on. and does not rut, even with 8 runs each and 16 Formula SAE drivers the course was just as smooth (actually smoother) as when we started. which was no worse then many roads I've driven in tampa. almost everything was stock that ran, I don't think anyone complained or had bottoming out issues.

Yeah but my cars ride height on these damn springs give it a lot to be desired.

Well, since I got the results ready, and I can, I'll just post them here! Jeff - I also emailed them to your Yahoo account.
Class results and overall rankings. Enjoy, everybody.
Note that these do not include the SAE Baja guys (USF and UF), I'm trying to figure out how I can get your times out in their entirety as there were about 18 runs for the "cart" from UF and a good number for the others too. Please bear with me (if anybody of you are reading here).

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to put my thoughts in a separate post from the results for linking purposes.
The little timing booth we had set up was very nice. Nice breeze all day. I do apologize for the timing issues we had. After discussing it with Loren, it was probably an alignment issue with the beams. It is possible that a dead-killer alignment would have helped with the dust, but really there isn't much you can do with that style of lights. The old fashioned "run over" type would have probably worked better.
The starting line was killer... probably my favorite part of the whole course. There was a sort of crown as the entry gate transitioned to the banked corner. I'd do a nice launch and as soon as the front tires went over the lip, the backs got a huge power boost, then the fronts got more power as the backs went over. It felt like a huge power launch as I crossed that crowned section into the course.
Of course, I had a few nice drifts too , and the big curve on the back section was a little hairy as I could kick the back end out nice at about 60mph setting up for the corner to the infield.

as for timing. a little dust is no suprise. rallycross is harder to time it's a matter of fact but you did an AWESOME job! remember this was our FIRST event EVER! and we had 8 runs and out by 4:00 and results with little or no wait.
The course, what can I say was awesome, switching from the track, to the slicker infield and back , and back. was challenging. with more experence I think we can have some REAL fun with the banking.
only one car spun on the banked turn and as expected spun "down" into the skirt of the track, next event we can use more of the track forcing the cars up the banking with gates. I was Flat in 2nd around that turn, if I was a REAL man I could have short shifted 3rd and carried a bit more speed.
I LOVE EBRP for rallycross, They want us back too. once news of these events gets out I bet the numbers are going to blow up.
