Default Evolution School WTF!

I got a $100 Evo School gift certificate for Christmas,
so I went to sign up for the March School in Ft. Myers.
Dave Hunter emails me telling me I can't use the Gift Certificate.
WTF!!

I'll keep you updated. It's time to contact the Owners.

Jean Kinser sold ownership, I thought it was no longer going to be "Evoloution" Like when she bought it From "McKamey"

They didn't change anything other than who's running the show. I'd contact Evolution directly and ask if you can use a gift certificate. Even e-mailing Jean should get you an answer...she's still associated with the school.

I did an Evo school this past summer. Not a good experience. Got there to find only one instructor for the entire group - nowhere near the ratio they'd advertised. Found out Jean had prewarned some people, but not others. Also had offered partial refunds to some, but not others. I contacted her afterwards and politely complained, since I was in the "not other" group for both of the above. I was told I'd get the partial refund. Still waiting.

I had always heard the school had a good reputation. I guess some things DO change.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

I did email Jean, and she did quickly respond that she would do something to fix it.
I just have to wait to hear what that "fix" is.
The Gulf Coast Autocrossers were pretty clear about not wanting to honor it.

I went to the second day of the school Native was talking about.
I had my own laundry list of complaints, but the school is so good that I am going back.

Get well soon Chi Town. It's odd to go out and not see you driving.

How well any Evo session goes depends heavily on the club hosting it. The school provides the format and the instructors...I'm really surprised any Florida-hosted session could only come up with one instructor! When took Phases I and II in DC, we had an instructor for every 3-4 people, and it went very smoothly.

You have to understand that Dave Hutter of the Gulf Coast Autocrossers does things HIS way and that will include trying to do the EVO school his way. Hope it all works out for you though.

Which is why my first trip down there last fall was also my last. Great site, but the most screwed up event management I've seen in 25 years of autocrossing.
