The shortage of instructors was because they were all at a national competition that same weekend. Really bad planning on Evo's part. The one guy who was there (whose name I would recognize but can't come up with) ran his ass off and really tried to make it worthwhile, but...

Interesting. Wonder what happened to GCAC? When I went down there a couple years ago for one of their Saturday practice events, they really seemed to have their stuff together.

It's still GCAC. They have the means to do a sharp event, but the leadership (whether Dave or someone else) is wedded to this arcane system where every one gets one run in every group except the one they work. For the practice sessions, it's even less structured -- you get two run chits to start, plus one for every session you work...but if you're not standing there waiting for someone to come off a station, you may never get beyond two. Like Josh, I was there for the state championships last fall, and it was painful both days. Could have taken a long nap between runs...and I was lucky, since I waited less time than most.

Tim Aro is the instructor that pretty much handled the last school by himself.
I went on Saturday with Tim and Greg (Hahn?) as instructors.

I finally got the email addresses of the 3 new owners and sent Tim an email yesterday about my "gift Certificate". I'm pretty confident he will be fair with me.

I never really considered going to the Gulfcoast autocrosses because of the long drive there.
From what I've read here, I'm not missing anything.

No, the MSCC and East Coast CFR (not so anymore, I understand) are/were a lot worse. Their run/work order is 3 or 4 run heats where everyone, including the course workers, get 1 run per heat. However, the GCAC events could be run much more efficiently. I like to go down there a couple times a year, just to see the interesting cars and the best autox competition in the state.
