I think you have to decide whether 4 - 38 second runs are worth 4 hours of highway driving, and that is being optomistic about the return trip. 
I thought about it myself, but it isn't worth it to me, even though I haven't run since 2/1 and I won't have another opportunity until 5/8.

How well organized was the event? I have been staying away from them for years because their events were sooooo bad. At my last east coast event, I got three 28-second runs and I had to work during one of my run heats.

It was really well run. Despite the event chair's complete lack of people skills, it wasn't a bad event at all organization-wise.
If it was closer I'd hit it.
