question on autocrossing
on im new to the sport. and im trying to get my car into proper working condition, because my car sat for 2 years. i was reading the solo 2 hand book for novice and it said
"Your car must be quieter than 95dbA (RLS) measured 50 feet from the course at a place where you are under full throttle. Due to the possibility of losing sites for noise problems, this rule is strictly enforced. (If your car is quiet enough to avoid attracting Police attention, it will most likely pass the noise requirement)"
my muffler is probably louder than that with a silencer on it. so my question is that even with all the work im doing to my car to get it up to spec i still can not race because of my muffler.

What car and muffler system do you have. A 93 integra ? I doubt that it will be that much of a problem causer.

Most clubs don't carry a sound meter to autocrosses. Use your best judgement and consider WHERE you are autocrossing. CFR's Brooksville site is at an airport, as is the PCA site in Zephyrhills. Noise isn't much of a concern there. A location that is closer to residential will have the event organizers paying more attention to noise.
Bottom line: If *you* think it's too loud, it probably is.

Jeese Leonard - Is it that time of the month or something
Bottom line - come on out and drive. If there's something wrong with it, someone on the event staff will tell you. It's pretty laid back. Sound requirements anywhere SCCA west coast events are run really don't have a huge concern about sound levels. GCAC in Ft. Myers does, but again, you can be pretty loud and still be okay. If you're really worried about it, come out to an event and stand next to Jim's V6 MR2.
