Hey guys, I could take all our best videos and make one nice big one out of them. It might be nice to show off the instructors skills on video and put it up on the website for newcomers to see how its done, as well as the students to learn. Anybody want me to do this?

Bob

I'd also like to thank Loren, Fritz and the SunRiders autocross club for a great event.

Anyone who wants a ton of track time for under $100 needs to be at the next event, I know I will.

My car was not yet ready for this event so I was just an instructor.

I had a great time and was lucky enough to get a 10 min stint behind the wheel of a Birkin Lotus 7 replica, man what a blast that thing was to drive.

Watching those videos makes me a little queasy.

Also a thanks goes to Don for being the co driver in the Mazaratti, that for some reason no one wanted to be co driver in by the end of the day. (The driver was a good driver, but there was just something special about that car)

From what I saw, in a 10-minute session, Azenis will heat up to the point that they begin to lose grip. I wouldn't say they were "overheated", but I heard several people comment that they felt them losing grip and making more noise toward the end of their sessions.

For ultimate grip specifically for this type of event with no compromises toward street use? I'd go with the Kumho V700. Or, if you want a similar tire that will last a little longer, try the Toyo RA-1. They are reported to grip almost as good as the Kumhos and wear like iron.

If you want a street tire that will work well on the track... hmmmm...

Well, maybe some of the Azenis drivers will offer up a report. They certainly weren't the only tires that started giving up when they got hot out there. I was relatively happy with my Goodyear Eagle F1's, though I know they didn't have near the grip of the Azenis.

Just about anything would be adequate to learn on, though. You know that drill well enough. We're not out to set records or anything, so don't get too wrapped up in having the ultimate tires just yet. There were folks out there (like John Hatton) who were impressing the instructors on their old tired all-season tires.

yeah. it's hard because my car double dutys as a drift car. i would have to do a complete all out setup and change all of my alignment for grip style.

i just want to be able to go out to a track event and have fun gripping it up, without having my tires be like ' i hate you ' .

I think anything short of Hoosiers/Victoracers are going to get pretty squirrely on that track after ten minutes. There's not even a long straight where you can cool down the tires.
