Primus Wrap Up...
I want to do this next time! A bunch of us corvette owners rented the Gainesville Test Track this winter (15 of us) and we had a blast running laps. I got in about 90 laps in half a day.
I have scca club racing experience (ITA RX-7) - I also was an instructor for CarGuys for a year.
Is there a website for this track anywhere? I can't seem to find one.
Also, my car is a vert (for now, thinking of a z06 soon) but are roll bars required to run there? They werent at Gainesville.
Anyway - looks like a great time was had by all!

You're not searching very hard, my friend. You could search TR for "Primus" and come up with the answer you seek.
Or, I just typed "Primus Track Event" into Yahoo and the very first result was http://www.sunridersautocross.com/srevents.cfm
Yes, roll bars are required in open top cars. Sorry, it's an insurance requirement. (it's also a good idea!)

Kumho Ecsta MX's do pretty well when hot. Far better than Azenis (which you have to water down between autox runs on a hot day if you're serious about it)....

And as far as the roll bar goes, I guess I will have to bring out my turbocharged sunburst yellow miata - it has a roll bar in it.
That is why I asked, cause I have two choices when it comes to track cars depending on the event/location.

I want to see information about the track (ie length, track layout, event schedule, etc) not just the simple sentance that sunriders has on their site.

If you go search the TR Autox forum for Primus, you'll find some threads with maps and good descriptions of the track as well as a lot of background on what we went through to set up our events there. If you read through the info packet from that "prior event" that you mentioned on the SunRiders site, you'll find much more than "a sentence" describing the track. There is a full driver's perspective of driving the entire track as well as an accurate scale map of the track.
Good that you have a Miata. I think this track is much more suited to a Miata than a Vette. (not to say you couldn't have fun in a Vette... we had some higher-powered sports cars as well as some larger cars out there that seemed to be having a good time)

They really aren't in the business of "running a track", they are race car builders and this is their test track. Primus does have a website... if you can call it that. http://primusracing.com/

I love my miata (especially with the turbo) but the vette is another story. :o -- The vette will soon be traded in on a z06, so that would solve the open top issue as well. Do you know anyone that wants a c5 vert, it was only driven on weekends

Berkely C5,
I would love to see a Zo6 out there. I ran my T-bird and had a great time. Miata's are great on that course because it is a bit tight - BUT a car with some horsepower (torque, really) would reel them in and go "zoom zoom" bye on the straights. Here is some video of me at the track.
