the unit is a DEH-P4900ib

i was driving down the street and my audio just cut out, everything else on the head unit works fine(plays cd's, radio changes stations, just no audio to my speakers). this is the second pioneer head unit i have had this happen to. is there any way to fix this where my radio plays sound again?

 

have you checked all connections? if its an internal problem id imagine it would have to be sent in but im sure someone else will chime in with more help, any amps in the car for door speaker/subs?- GL

 

well i do have a sony 1200 watt amp hooked up to two rockford fostgate p1 punch subs nothing else is hooked up to the amp. it couldn't be something internal cause when i put the stock head unit back in everything works fine. i think its the head unit but to have it happen to two head units like that is weird.

 

i ment internal in the head unit. i was hoping your doors were amp'd so maybe something jus came loose but if stock work that isnt the case

 

did you have it long? Is this you second unit with the same harness?

check the harness and make sure no +12vlt wires are exposed. wires like illumination,power antenna that dont get capped off can sometime ground them selves and cause some damage.

For the sound to stop it seems like you having a speaker grounded out. Check to make sure non of the wires are the touching metal they are being screwed to.

its not common but sometimes the speakers when they blow they gound out and cause the others to stop playing. We found that to be the case when installing some beyma 6.5's once. speaker blew and grounded the VC.

 

id go thru the harness coming off the unit real well, check every wire

 

will do in a few minutes. and yeah i had the first head unit for a good while, the second one my friend had in his garage plugged it in and it played fine for almost a week. none of the harness wires are exposed, i made sure of that on both installs. and as for if a speaker is grounding out then why would the stock head unit work fine after i put it in. i have had the stock head unit in for about 2 1/2 weeks now with no problems. also, is there any way for my pinoeer head unit to work again?

it is kinda weird this keeps happening. you can try and call pioneer but without reciept there prolly not gonna do much but idk-

 

yeah i was e-mailing someone from pioneer and as soon as i said i had no receipts the bitch stopped e-mailing me i think i am just gonna get a different brand head unit and double check all the wiring for the stereo dammit i hate wires!!!!
