In a sealed box subs typically hit harder, but a ported box will be much louder, but at a cost of a reduction in sound quality. If you want to "feel" your bass as opposed to volume, stick with the sealed. Otherwise, go for ported.

ok.. couldn't be more wrong on most..

yes sq is the only part you were right about..

ported is more efficient and will get louder in a perfect world 3db..

sealed gives the benefit of better sq for the most part but if you do it right it won't be an issue besides type rs aren't great for sq.. they are also recommended in ported

Default Not recomended

Just my opinion but I think you would be far better off spending that money on having a custom ported box built for your Alpine Type Rs not a prefab box built for Kicker CVRs

who knows though you might get lucky and have them sound great

Yeah I know alpine subs don't require that much air space in a ported box, I have the type x's and they are in a box measuring 14 inches high, 16 depth and only like 34 long. And they slam. So I believe alpine subs don't require anything too big, you can custom build one or best buy has a prefab that is perfect for them.

go get a box made. It will be cheaper and built tougher. Not only that but tuned to what YOU want and the subs you will have.

Ported can sound just as good as sealed depending on the tune, music, car etc. Ported boxes are louder and more efficient...as stated before. Efficient becuase it takes less power to get more bass, However, expect your subs to suck more power out of your amp in a ported enclosure if you plan on cranking up the volume.

Prefabbed boxes suck. Not all, but majority of them. Nothings better than getting one built for cheaper. Its louder and your helping our your local business.
