Whenj you say "drill holes" please explain. It sounds like you're considering drilling holes in the box, sort of like very poorly designed ports.....please dont do that.

yea i looked into it. not a great idea. im going to see how i like this sealed box. i listen to a lot of rock so im not sure if ported will be the best idea.

I'd stick with the sealed box for now. There is always a difference in the required volume for a ported box, so if they're working well in the sealed box it's going to end up too small to port it.

installed everything last nite. i have to say these are some pretty badass subs. kinda makes me want to go ported. installed the cap and no idle issues she runs fine and i have enough juice to run the setup, but still going to upgrade alternator wires.
when i listen to rock its great!
but when i listen to rap the base is so deep i can barely hear the music. i had to turn down the base to 5 out of 15 just so i can raise the volume to 23 so i could hear the music! is there a way to make the door speakers louder at a lower level on the volume? i have the trebble or whatever its called all the way up as it is.

would it be better to run these subs bridged? would that give me more power? that would reduce it to 2 ohms right? is that bad for the subs?

i got greedy today and wanted more power so i bridged it and blew a fuse. i dont understand that because those speakers can handle 250rms each. although my lights started to dim so i think maybe it shorted from not enough power?

Hold on a second before you go blowing things up. You can't just drop the impedance on an amp because you want to. These subs you listed are Dual 4 ohm subs, so how did you wire the coils? Parallel or series? Did you go + to + or + to -? It's going to make a big difference. If you wire the subs in parallel (pos to pos) then you need to run the amp in stereo, which will still deliver the full 250 watts per sub the amp is capable of. Simply hook each sub up to one channel of the amp, and you're set. If you go bridging it when everything is wired in parallel you're trying to ask the amp to run a 1-ohm mono load, which it is not even close to capable of doing.
Now this is all different if your woofers are single coil. If you've got single 4-ohm subwoofers, you've got the wrong woofers for the application.

As for your door speakers, turn down the sub level to match it. You're not going to get them any louder without putting an amp on them.

ok makes sense. i have a lot to learn i guess lol. these are wired positive to positive. i had googled it and thats what it told me to do. not sure what would happen if it was opposite

so im already getting 250rms at 4 ohms even though the amp sais im getting 170?
