Default Installing aux input

I've got a 2000 Integra w/ the factory CD/Stereo. I want to install an aux input so I can plug in my iPod (or anything w/ a 1/8" jack).

I'm looking for pointers/warnings from anyone who's tried this before. I've searched this forum and Honda Tech, but I'm not seeing anything.

Has anyone here tried this? Is it possible/worth doing?

Thanks.

You know you can buy some head units that have an Ipod jack/Auxiliary input..their pretty cheap to. You can get one for like $100 or so

boo, well that scratches the quick easy way to add an aux in, if there is a tape deck (sounds like nope) then you can take the head unit apart and solider onto the aux inputs via the deck.

other than that sounds like an fm modulator or new head unit is what your going to have to do

one of the shop guys will probably chime in with a "plug and play" if one is available.

If you have the small blue plug on the back of the radio (or the port is empty on the radio but will accept it-most likely the case with what you have described), you could use a Peripheral plug-n-play harness and auxilary box similar to the ones above. It will allow full seamless stereo sound integration through the factory system. If you are mechanically inclined, you can do this project for under $100 in parts. We do lots of this type integration and it sounds tons better than FM Modulation (that is a last resort if no plug-n-play options are available).

ink, I want to keep the factory unit--so many aftermarket ones are just ugly. I'm going for a discrete wire in the empty DIN slot just below the radio to keep everything factory-looking.

Mcor, thanks for the info. Looks like it's time to pull the radioand see what I'm working with.
