Default bad lead wire?

well i have an issue with my sub i was going to use in my install. havent used the sub in forever maybe 3 years or so and went to plug it in today to make sure it still works. the sub will play sometimes but if i press on the wire running across the spider it will play. or just touch the lead wire a little it plays. i called speaker exchange and they said its probably a bad lead wire but they might not be able to fix it. does anyone know what i can do myself to try and fix it. i am going to take it to them tomorrow hopefully so they can look at it. if not i guess im going shopping for a new sub. thanks. its an audiobahn AW1008X AudioBahn AW1008X Car Subwoofer Details and Product Specifications - Epinions.com

lead wire?

You mean a remote turn on signal? Wouldn't that be related to your amp? Does the amp have status lights? On/Protection LEDs?

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

no im talkin about the wire that is attached to the terminal on the sub itself. that wire is usually wrapped through the spider or attached to it.

You are probably talking about a tinsel lead. I would call 813customz to see if they could repair it.

These can be soldered may times at the terminal lead with lots of paste flux and really low level heat from the solder gun. Losts of patience also. If it is broke at the cone area, some can be fixed, some cannot. Cheap subs can be somewhat glued (I have seen it done sucessfully-although a little scary looking) but if you have nothing to loose (it's just an old Audiobahn) may as well experiment. It probably isn't worth having fixed if it will cost more than $50 (usually will) and they usually won't put a guarantee on it unless it is reconed. Just my experience though...
