Head unit/clock problems wont hold stations or time
??? Honestly, please take this to a professional/reputable shop and pay the $35 or whatever to get it wired up correctly. At the very least what you have done may just be annoying or knock out some electronics. At the worst, you may have some serious electrical problems that have been created.
Just my two cents worth. But we get a couple of jobs a week that started out just like this and most don't end up very pretty if not reconciled early enough...

Alright so I found a manual online for the headunit since I didnt get one when I bought it. They have a troubleshooting and have the problem with reseting in there it says to make sure both the ignition and battery wires have 12v. The red and the yellow wires or the white with a blue stripe and the yellow with a red stripe. So I now atleast know which wires are causing the problem. I have to go buy a digital multimeter so I can test how many volts i am getting. Whatever it was before the previous owner had re-soldered wires together maybe the factory head unit was stolen and ripped out I dont know. I pulled the tubing off the wires and as far as I can see there are no tears or breaks in the wires.
good luck bud, it sounds like one of those pia problems to me. in my bmw i had a problem with the head unit, after a few days of screwing with it playing with meters grabbing hot wires and going dam that hurt i took it to a shop 40 bucks and a day later they had it fixed the door i felt it was money well spent.
again good luck, finding problems someone else created are always a pia

Yes the headunit was used when i bought it. So cap off the ignition and battery wires then run 2 wires from the battery to those spots going into the harness before the headunit.
if you run 2 wires from the battery you will not have ignition , you will only have constant power. meaning you will retain memory , but you cd player will be on all the time. if you are not able to do this fix correctly, stop wasting your time, space on this forum and everyone else's time, and go to a shop and let someone who knows what they are doing fix the problem before you damnage equipment(or worse your car)
