well 50x4 on a head unit is peak..so it may compare with a 15 watt rmsx4 amp

Doubt it, unless you like your 15 watts at 1000 hz and 10% thd.

This is why I didn't say the head unit manufacturers were lying. They probably do put out the stated wattage, just not clean, and over a usable range, like component amplifiers.
